Meet the team
Richard Woodley – Training Manager
Richard is a retired Detective Sergeant having served with Thames Valley Police specialising in Child Abuse Investigations. He is a qualified further education teacher and now runs Safeguarding Children Training.
His training subject specialisms include; LSCB Child Protection courses (Levels 2 to 5), Multi-Agency Working, Safeguarding Children Allegation Management, Designated Safeguarding Children Lead, Child Sexual Abuse and Investigating Child Serious Non-Accidental Injuries.
Carol has over 25 years’ experience of safeguarding in the health service both in acute and community NHS settings. She still works clinically in the safeguarding field, alongside writing & delivering child and adult safeguarding courses to a wide plethora of statutory and voluntary sectors.
She is a qualified trainer in addition to a Registered & Practicing Nurse & Health Visitor.
Rebecca Kilpatrick – Associate Trainer
Rebecca is an accredited Child Safeguarding trainer by the NSPCC and an accredited Mental Health trainer by Mental health England. She spends her time delivering both Child Safeguarding and Mental Health training to the Police service, Teachers and many other professions.
Rebecca is also a qualified Forensic Investigative interviewer and conducts ABE interviews with young children, for and on behalf of the police and family courts. Rebecca was a Detective in Child Safeguarding for over ten years and is passionate about helping others.
Carla is a Qualified Social Worker HCPC registered, with over 30yrs experience in child protection and safeguarding children. Currently, part-time Training and Development Coordinator for the London Borough of Merton Safeguarding Children Partnership.
Training specialist subjects include: Safeguarding children (all levels), Child and Adolescent Neglect, Impact of parental mental illness, substance misuse and domestic abuse on children and young people, Assessment of children and families.
Jo Edwards – Associate Trainer
Jo is a former Health Visitor (12 years) and LSCB Training Coordinator (12 years). Her training subjects include Child Neglect and the Graded Care Profile; Professional Dangers; Training for Trainers; Core Group Work; Writing and Planning Multi-Agency Courses.
Jo has led on the development of courses for LSCBs (Physical Abuse; Domestic Abuse; the impact on children; Fabricated Illness) in collaboration with practitioners from the area. Jo is the co-author, with Ane Freed-Kernis, of Inter-Agency Training; A Practical Handbook.
Sarah is a trainer, researcher and evaluation consultant. Experienced and skilled in qualitative approaches to evaluations.
She also has over twenty years’ experience as a youth worker, mainly working in the field of violence against women and girls and as a trainer on the subject of child sexual exploitation.
Suzi has been delivering training in the field of social care, health and criminal justice for over 20 years. Her professional background lies in the study of Psychology, Addictions and Teaching combined with many years of practice in Child Protection work. Suzi currently runs training courses for a number of local authorities, delivering child sexual abuse training. She is also a long-standing Associate Trainer with both Barnardos training and Consultancy and the NSPCC.
Helen is a retired Detective Constable having served with London’s Metropolitan Police specialising in Child Abuse Investigations.
She is a City and Guilds qualified further education trainer and specialises in delivering all aspects of safeguarding vulnerable children and adults training.
Tony Griffin – Associate Trainer
Tony Griffin is a retired Detective Sergeant who served with Wiltshire Police and managed a Child Abuse Investigation Team.
He received a Chief Constable’s Commendation for the role he played in a child murder investigation
Upon retirement he became the Organisational Development Lead for Wiltshire Safeguarding Children Board and designed and delivered the multi-agency training programme. He has a qualification to teach adults.
He now currently runs his own safeguarding children training and consultancy business with his partner.
